Starting my first DnD game as a player later this month. I'm starting as a level 3 horizon walker ranger and am considering to multiclass along the way as a rune knight fighter. I think this would be a fun, interesting build, but have no idea yet how it is mechanically going to work out.

Horizon Walker is the most tricky ranger to find a good level to multiclass out of IMO. Level 9 gives you Haste Level 10 sucks. Level 11 gives you an amazing subclass feature. Terrain Mastery: As horizon walkers travel, they gain a mystical connection with the very ground they walk on. At each level, they add a new terrain environment to their repertoire from those given below. Terrain mastery gives a horizon walker a bonus on checks involving a skill useful in that terrain, or some other appropriate benefit. Unless this is a lvl 20 build, I wouldn't go beyond 3-4 levels in fighter, since it's not much and you need a lot of time in horizon walker to actually get the cool teleporting/space magic stuff.
