The fly would overwhelm the weight of the line, to a degree where accuracy would suffer. The flies would pendulum against that too-light fly line. A 6 wt line is better suited to making the weight and air resistance of these flies disappear. Our industry has lost it's way with regard to line weight and fly size.

I think someone else here mentioned Steffen and my Steffens are by far my favorite rods I own and are also on the faster side for glass. C.
