Remington Sportsman 48 with a barrel date of 1950 for $150. It came with a compensator / variable choke that doesn't look like any I'm familiar with. The choke seems to be "endlessly variable" with no stops for various settings, and I haven't patterned it yet.
The thing about the Sportsman 48 compared to my Auto-5 is that the Remington buttstock end is dimensionally smaller than the Browning (both are 12 ga.). I got one of those "universal fit" lace-up pads and it looked real nice but it was way to small w/o making a major modification so I just returned it.

It is a recoil shot gun make sure that the friction ring is not wore bad and mag tube has a light light coat of oil. Also make sure that the recoil spring is flat on each end that can make the ring go sideways and not cycle action fully. Hope this helps.
