Oct 13, 2021 · Hi, I have a litter robot 3 purchased on the 11-08-2020 - Order No 1036965. We have a continuos flashing yellow light (Pinch Detector Problem) I have completed the following: -. Removed the “2 metal pins” and cleaned them - not dirty and afterwords checked the continuity between them - OK. Checked the 2 magnets - OK. Cleaned the DFI sensor.

To add, the sensor is two $.01 pieces of plated metal that get litter basically dumped on them with every cycle. So they corrode / get dirty and give tons of false pinch alerts. Sometimes the pinch alert requires a full unplug to reset. I kept finding my LR stuck upside down, leading the cats to find other places to do their messes. The pinch detect circuit is part of the DFI and this is the reason why when the globe is in the dump position the base attempts to change direction, and does for a split second, (this is when the pinch detect becomes active once again) and since the DFI has malfunctioned, the control board thinks a pinch is in progress and reverses the direction of the globe …

Spray down and scrub inside the globe. The base gets scrubbed, particularly the pinch detector! Within 2 weeks I started getting false full errors, and then today it has failed due to the pinch detect fault. I've spent hours watching self repair videos, cleaned the sensors, cleared the pinch detectors, and after 2 cycles it is back to pinch default errors. They over engineered this thing to have sensitive parts exposed to corrosion.

I finally ordered a completely new pinch detector and DFI kit. I changed it all out, it was working great for about a month. Now these past few days I am back to seeing the pinch detector ...
