Unfortunately owners are not taught this, but it is in the Eyesight manual. When the Pre-Collision Braking System is activated, it will continue to operate even if the accelerator pedal is partially depressed. However, it will be canceled if the accelerator pedal is suddenly or fully depressed.

If anyone else is having issues with the system disabling itself, leaving the fault indicator lights on the dash as you drive, it might be worth seeing if you dealer would replace the sensors. I don't think the bumper cover would have made a difference. According to my invoice the sensors only cost about $25 each.
