Removing the carb is a P.I.A. on these things--very tight. Take care to keep track the routing of the hoses on the carb-it's easy to get this screwed up. The little spring clamps on the hoses are tough to remove without damage to the hose--go slowly. The jet is easy to replace. I notice much better performance (the thing will now idle).

Mar 22, 2012 · The initial setting for the pilot jet is 2-1/4 turns out from lightly seated. Jet needle clip sets on the second groove. Idle speeds sets at 1,400 RPM. Here's my 2 cents: If the floats are brass or the floats are separate from the float arm, I set the 'level' with the carb upside down so the float arm is horizontal with the horizon. If the floats are plastic or composite, I set the level with the carb about 45 degrees from inverted - I actually tip the carb slowly so the needle just contacts ...
Re-cleaned the bowl and floats and let everything soak in carb cleaner. Re-assembled and adjusted the pilot screw on bottom of carb to almost 2 turns out. Installed an inline fuel filter this time. Started it up and drove it around the block and she runs like a brand new machine.
93 octane will go bad just as quickly as 87, plus it burns cooler and slower, so could be adding to your problems if the 360 calls for 87 octane. The CVK carbs are not overly sensitive to tuning changes, but they are very sensitive to being gummed up and not clean. Clean it again. 2002 698 Prairie.
For rich fuel conditions, Adjust the carburetor for a leaner fuel mixture. Clean or replace the air filter. Check the choke operation. For lean fuel condition: Inspect fuel lines for clogs or leaks.
