I don't use kerdi board but wouldn't it make more sense to rabbet out the back of the board a little so it would fit straight down over the lip with out bowing and set it in a bead of Kerdi fix which would minimize a 3/8" gap down to 1/16" and then run a finish bead of Kerdi fix on the outside to completely seal it?
