After a month of ownership of a 2022 Hybrid XLE premium, here are my thoughts/opinions. It has one thing going for it: it's a Toyota, which means it'll probably last a while. If that's the most important thing to you, buy the Rav4. But other than that, it's a worse value than almost every one of its competitors (particularly the CX-5, CR-V, Tucson, and Rogue). There’s more to life than what meets the eye. Nobody knows exactly what happens after you die, but there are a lot of theories. New 2025 Camry (redesigned, fresh look, all hybrid) just revealed to release to consumers in the Spring of 2024. So, it is safe to assume that the new redesigned called 2025 RAV4 will come at the end or 2024 or beginning of 2025.

In my experience Toyotas have the body fall apart before the engine. If a new hybrid rav4 is $35k and lasts 200k+ miles, 5k for that car is ok if you need a car today and have a backup car, because all the surprise mechanical issues will emerges towards the end of a cars life. For reference a 2019 rav4 pre Covid base msrp was $25k.2019 should be reliable. Apart from noise/perhaps a jerky transmission, the LE AWD doesn’t have the transfer case issues. Shouldn’t have anything that affects reliability. Resale will be better with the new style, as well as power and fuel economy. Up to you if you decide a deal on the 2018 is worth forgoing all of that. Biggest issues for the rav4 is the road noise and loud cabin and outdated interior. That said, the hybrid is quieter than the gas model. Kia Sportage on paper is great. Nice interior, up to date tech, quiet cabin, and spacious. Between the two, I’d go with rav4.

XLE hybrid, no packages, no regrets. Installed an aftermarket QI pad, wireless carplay adapter, hitch receiver, LED cabin lights, black wheel skins, and JBL dashboard speakers. Only thing I wish I had is remote start but honestly not too concerned about it. 1. CR-V Sport 4WD is at $35,195 vs Rav4 Hybrid XLE with Weather and Convenience Package at $35,260. And darn close feature parity here too. I don't have a favorite (will need to test drive first), but if they're dinging Honda on price, that doesn't appear to be accurate across all the trims. 3. Further research reveals that the RAV4 (non-plug in) hybrid, does need a bit more driver/owner 'attention' than the gas model, in terms of cleaning various filters, and making sure to run the car regularly so the battery does not go flat.

Expect 10-15 years of loyal service. As a few cells in the traction battery stop holding charge your fuel economy will decline significantly. Those few individual cells can be easily replaced with refurbished cells (or the entire pack can be replaced with refurbished cells) and the battery as a whole can keep on going.
