Being able to cap out energy fast enough to activate beards is a big help, and helps to make lots of the trolls a lot less annoying. As for the challenge situation, you only auto-kill titans that you have unlocked by reaching a high enough boss in the current rebirth. Most challenges don't mess with your adventure stats too badly so it shouldn't make much of a difference.
