Harris is the way to go if you do not want it to bend, but the 795 is not a real heavyweight so maybe not an issue. The Chinese copies are soft steel and nowhere as durable as a Harris, but are half the price.

Ten round mag, semi-auto, 22LR, blued metal but synthetic stock (not as pretty as the 795). Shot well with a variety of ammo and was more accurate than my 10/22s out of the box. Just a comparison to help with the discussion. The 795 is a far better looking piece of equipment, but the extra ±$50 is a consideration. Happy hunting.

My first 795 was bought in the spring of 2011. Price was $129.95 locally and Marlin had a $25 factory rebate, so $105 plus tax. It was made in the Marlin factory. The second one I bought in the fall of 2011 because the price dropped to $119.95 and still had a $25 rebate. That one was just over $100 with the tax.Nice review.
