Stellaris keeps crashing.
Check your antivirus and how it feels about Stellaris and the Paradox Launcher. They made some changes recently that has had antivirus programs eyeing those with suspicion. It sounds to me like something is preventing them from accessing the necessary files in C:\Users\ [USER] \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris\.
The changes in 2.2 made the game more memory and calculation intensive, which has caused problems in the later game - I've had these problems too. Stellaris 1.2.? is still crashing on my system, too! I don't know what other steam games have to do with this. Before the 1.2 patch everything works fine. The issue occurs very often. The game is currently unplayable. @Paradox: please fix it

Take the user_empire_designs.txt file and the save games folder and move them somewhere safe like your desktop. Then try launching the game again.
