There is no "best" Magus. Different kinds of Magi are good (or in comparison to the other kinds "best") in different areas. All of them are viable. If you want ranged combat, be an Eldritch Archer. For melee: Vanilla Magus for highest number of spells per day and highest flexibility. Eldritch Scion for ease-of-use with spntaneous casting. That is the biggest hurdle for this build imo. You won't be a full gunslinger, so won't have your way reload until later levels to help even out your action economy. And Magus in general is already pretty action starved. Starlit is less so than the melee centric ones, but spellstrike being 2 actions makes it tough to fit in reload actions.This affects only the weapon’s base damage dice, not additional damage from sneak attack, magical weapon properties, spellstrike, or critical hits.
