Jul 16, 2021 · I just recently purchased a 2007 EX-L with nearly 200k miles (normally never buy used with over 100k miles)…. I decided to take it to a Honda Dealership for multipoint inspection. Most major repair needed is a Spool Valve replacement. Current one, located in the back of the engine, is leaking and total cost for part and labor is just over $1400. 2011 odyssey with VCM. I just installed a new front rocker oil control valve. The old valve slid off of the rocker arm shafts no problem. The new one (aftermarket) I had to force onto the shafts by basically laying the rocker shaft bridge assembly on a bench and banging on the end of the spool valve to force it onto the shafts.
1. My advice is to stay away from these and order the OEM Spool Valve Assembly, and grab the OEM gaskets out of that part.
