I always assumed single mantle lanterns like the 200a were supposed use a bigger mantle but that isn't the case. I recently found a 1965 200a with the owners manual and the manual says to use a 21a type mantle. You can use a larger mantle but it will not be as bright.

On page 341 in the Guide, Roger says about the Type 1 quad globe: "Listed in the MILSPECS as an optional globe for the 252 lantern." Summarizing the rest...the Type 1 quad globe was only used on the Type 1 252 with the Type 1 frame (1944 only) and he lists the 2nd and 3rd quarter of 1944 as the date of production.
