Deities massively impact you. A cleric of Sarenrae may only get a few extra spells, but those spells are iconic and character changing (Like Fireball). Plus some deities give way more than three spells (Nethys is the most obvious example). Focus spells are also a pretty massive part of being a cleric IMO.
