It seems like the recoil spring pops out of the spot it sits on the barrel when I push the slide back to put the takedown pin back in. If you can press on the extractor (releasing case) while pulling the slide back, you may get it to move. Then it'll be easy to stick a dowel down the barrel and pound it out.
