The BRICS "currency" is mis-named it will be a super-currency only used by central banks for large international transactions. It will be like the idea of "bankcor notes" envisioned by JM Keynes. The ideas that people will use this currency is wrong. It will not be traded on the forex. So, if an Indian company wanted to buy a Russian plane.
I'd recommend a small position in gold & silver. I believe Russia accepting gold for payment for oil and/or BRICs putting forward a gold backed currency a possibility.
