I used the 421 + 57 combo before, but now I'm more partial to the 906: for me it's easier to get a nice sound on distorted guitar.rocked a 57 live forever, then i got in-ears and discovered just how sizzly it actually sounded! got a 609 and it was better (punchier 4k peak instead of the hashy 6k peak of the 57) but still a bit sizzly. upgraded to a 906 and figured out i was done! set the middle setting (flatter than the 609) i can just slide the mic from the edge to the center of …The e906 is also hyper cardiod while the 609 is cardioid. The e609 to my ear sounds a lot like the e906 in boost presence mode. Anyway you look at it the e609 is a nice mic, but the e906 is better, if you can afford it. I've been reading some good posts on both of these mics.. e609 comes up more often than the e606, but I've read elsewhere that they're actually the same mic... which seems odd to me as there's a £30 - £50 price difference and they're both listed on the Sennheiser website. You have to move it around to "EQ" the sound. The e906 has a wider "sweet spot" and, to my ears, sounds a little "better" or more natural than the sm57.
