Cataphracts are the tankiest, banner knights for the charge damage, Druzhniks if you want to dismount and use them as infantry, Aserai for javs/multi role really. Khans for mounted archery. That sounds like a worthy tried and true Battanian "huddle Fians in a copse of trees, farmyard or mountainside" technique has served me decently so far in terms of dealing with cavalry!
